Impressionist Style Painting

     Sixth grade students studied the Impressionist movement in painting.  They learned the characteristics of an Impressionist painting, and using those created their own paintings by using masterworks for inspiration.

Two-Point Perspective drawing

     In 7th grade, students learn to draw in two-point perspective.

They then have to use rectangular solids and cylinder shapes in an original and creative composition.

     Students were given lessons on how to draw in one-point perspective.  Then, Using what they learned, they had to design the interior of a room.

The two paintings directly above were painted with a sponge.  Panting with a sponge helps students to understand how to mass and block in values to create a strong composition and prevents them from getting too focused on details.
